TRENTO – Forty-two nations have already announced their intention to participate in the 26th Winter Universiade, to be held in Trentino from December 11th to 21st, 2013 on the competition fields of Trento, Monte Bondone, Baselga di Pinè, Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa. Trentino will be hosting nearly 3,000 participants coming from 50 different nations, making the Universiade the biggest sport event ever to be held in the Trentino region. The Organizing Committee is formed by the Autonomous Province of Trento, the University of Trento, the Municipality of Trento and CUSI.
Some of the National University Sport Federations are historical participants of these winter university games – like Austria, Canada, France, Japan, Russia and the United States -, others are at their first edition, like Nepal and Hong Kong.
The Nations, in addition to Italy, that have “pre-enrolled” are: Norway, United Kingdom, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Montenegro, Canada, People’s Republic of China, Japan, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Turkey, Republic of Korea, United States of America, Australia, Mongolia, Poland, Estonia, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Russian Federation, Serbia, Lebanon, France, Slovakia, New Zealand, Ukraine, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Republic of Macedonia, South Africa, Georgia, Nepal, Hong Kong – China, Bulgaria, Belarus, Latvia, Netherlands, Slovenia and Lithuania.
