GWANGJU – Uni-friends, the honorary publicity ambassador of the 2015 Gwangju Universiade, in its third term gathered at the beginning of February in the Muju Ski Resort, where the 1997 Winter Universiade had been held.
Uni-friends reaffirmed their determination to continue their promotional activities for the 2015 Universiade, by assessing their performances achieved in the past year and providing feedback during the two-day gathering.
On the first day of the meeting, 70 Uni-friends who had been selected last February, presented and shared their own activities in many different ways. A promotional activity organised on the following day drew attention from many skiers who had come to the resort.
One of the Uni-friends, Jong-wook Oh (junior in Youngnam Univ.) gave word that he would do his best for the promotion of the 2015 Universiade in his home province and other regions, as well as farther in the world through his commitment to the Universiade. Live webcasts carried the gathering event around the world through Facebook and Twitter.
Uni-friends is composed of university students who have worked as Universiade messengers in their own universities since its first-term recruitment in 2011. Currently Uni-friends has 500 active university student members.
Uni-friends fully performed their mission in various activities in the past year. They participated in the unveiling ceremony of the emblem and mascot, a marathon race, the opening event of the Korean professional football league, the international Yeosu Expo and other various events. They demonstrated various performances including flash mobs.
All university students are protagonists in the Universiade, a sporting festival for university students. Uni-friends will play a crucial role in the organisation of the 2015 Gwangju Universiade.
