FISU CSU Inspection Visit begins Tomorrow in Kazan

KAZAN – The 2nd inspection visit of the FISU Summer Universiade Supervision Committee led by FISU EC member Kemal Tamer (TUR) will take place in Kazan from February 12^th to 16th.

The visit programme will include a meeting between FISU and President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. FISU Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond, FISU 1st Vice President Oleg Matytsin and FISU Director for the Summer Universiade Mark Vandenplas will also be present at the meeting.

The CSU inspection visit will address a number of issues related to the completion of competition venues, hotels and hostels for the 27th Summer Universiade; introduction of new flights carrying athletes, officials, media and other partners essential to the Games to Kazan; cooperation with Eurosport, etc.

The meeting will enter more into details with a general presentation of the Kazan Summer Universiade and in particular of the progresses made by the OC in the run-up to the summer of 2013. FA managers for the 27th Summer Universiade will take the floor to give FISU a detailed report about the activities undertaken in each area.

The FISU delegation also plans to inspect an array of competition venues, as well as infrastructure facilities of the Universiade Village.

In parallel with the FISU CSU inspection visit, the Taipei 2017 OC delegates will arrive in the host city of the 27th Summer Universiade to adopt the best of Kazan’s experience in planning and preparing the world’s premier university sports event. As you know, Taipei is the host city of the 29th Summer Universiade. Observer programmes have become an increasingly common practice and representatives of the Kazan 2013 Organising Committee have met more than once with the organisers of the previous World University Games to have access to the latest knowledge that has been gained from the hard work and experience of past Games hosts. Moreover, shortly before the Games in Kazan, FISU, FISU International Education Centre (FISU IEC) and Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate will launch the Kazan 2013 Observer Programme for organising committees of upcoming multi-sport events. The programme participants will get a chance to experience first-hand what it takes to stage the 27th Summer Universiade and get behind-the-scenes access to the Games to build their expertise.
