KAZAN – The FISU Summer Universiade Supervision Committee is currently on an inspection visit in Kazan. During their stay in the host city of the 2013 Summer Universiade, the delegates assess the organisational and infrastructure readiness of Kazan to stage the World University Games.
On Thursday 14 February, the FISU delegates took a tour of Kazan 2013 key venues including the Aquatics Palace, 45,000-seat stadium, Central Stadium, and Ak Bars Wrestling Palace.
The day before, the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Kazan 2013 SU Organising Committee, met with the members of the FISU delegation led by FISU Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond. The parties addressed a number of issues related to the completion of competition venues, hotels and hostels for the 27th Summer Universiade; the introduction of new flights carrying athletes, officials, media and other partners essential to the Games to Kazan; the cooperation with Eurosport. FA managers for the Games also gave FISU a detailed report about the activities undertaken in each area.
In parallel with the CSU inspection visit, the Taipei 2017 SU OC delegates are on a visit to the host city of the 27th Summer Universiade to adopt the best of Kazan’s experience in planning and preparing the world’s premier university sports event. Taipei will play host to the 29th Summer Universiade in the year 2017.
