The FISU President & 1st VP with the Russian PM
KRASNOYARSK – On the occasion of the Economic Forum held in Krasnoyarsk from 14 to 16 February, FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien, 1st Vice-President Oleg Matytsin and Secretary General Eric Saintrond met with Russian Prime Minister Dimitri Medvedev. The meeting took place in the premises of the Krasnoyarsk Biathlon Academy.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated the support of the central government of the Russian Federation for the organisation of the 29th Winter Universiade in Siberia. The city of Krasnoyarsk was one of the first ones to show interest in organising the 2019 Winter Universiade.
FISU’s presence at the Economic Forum also allowed its representatives to meet with the President of Tatarstan, Mr Rustam Minnikhanov, the Deputy Minister for Sports of the Russian Federation, Mrs Natalya Parshikova, and the local authorities, in particular the Governor of Krasnoyarsk, Lev Kuznetsov.

The whole Siberian city has already caught the Winter Universiade fever and its bid is supported by two world-class ambassadors: former world number one tennis player Dinara Safina and figure skating Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin.
