DAR ES SALAAM – 43 Universities from across East Africa descended on the coastal city of Dar es Salaam, in Tanzania to participate in the East Africa University Games, which are held ever after two years. The University of Dar es Salaam, made great efforts to organise the events that attracted over 4,000 participants competing in 16 different sports disciplines that included Athletics, Swimming, Tennis, Table Tennis, Field Hockey, Rugby, Handball, Chess, Scrabble, Netball, Taekwondo, Karate, Badminton, Basketball, Football and Volleyball.
The events, which started well on 6 February 2013 were concluded successfully with the award of trophies to winning teams at the main sports grounds of the University of Dar Es Salaam, on 12 February 2013. The closing ceremony was attended by the Government Minister for Sports, the Secretary-General of the Tanzania Olympic Committee, among other delegates.
