The Torch Relay continues its way towards its final destination

2 July 2013

Kazan – On June 28, a total of four municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the Torch Relay of the 27th Summer Universiade: the residents of Kukmor, Bogatye Saby, Baltasi and Arsk met the main symbol of the Summer Universiade.

“This Universiade Flame came up to our area. Today I was lucky to become a Torchbearer, and I am very happy because it is a huge honour. The Universiade is the result of your great work,” said Head of the Sabinsky Municipal District, Rais Minnikhanov. “Soon Kazan will receive about 13,000 athletes from 170 countries. The Universiade will be a great event in the life of people in our country and all over the world!”

On 29 June, the main symbol of the Universiade, which has already travelled through more than half of Tatarstan’s districts, brought joy to the residents of three towns – Bolshaya Atnya, Vysokaya Gora and Pestretsy.

“Today, we are welcoming the Flame of the Summer Universiade, which will be taking place in Kazan from 6 to 17 July. We are especially pleased that among the members of the Russian national team there is a representative of our district as well – Russian champion Nafis Minibaev. I wish to all athletes high sports achievements!” said Head of the Vysokogorsky Municipal District Rustam Kalimullin.

On June 30, the Torch Relay route in Tatarstan took the Universiade Flame to Tyulyachi and Laishevo.

“I want to express words of gratitude because thanks to your work and efforts, the Universiade will be held in the capital of our republic. I invite you to actively participate in the World University Games because with your help, Kazan will be able to take in thousands of athletes from around the world,” said Shafigullin, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan.

On the first day of July, the main symbol of the World University Games came to three municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan. The residents of Alekseevskoe, Bazarnye Mataki and Bolgar greeted the Universiade Flame with great applause. A total of 63 Torchbearers carried the Flame of the World University Games through the streets of the three towns.

Deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Fuat Valiev, thanked the residents of Bolgar and the Spassky District for their contribution to the preparations for the World University Games, and wished them all good health, good luck and sports victories.

The next areas to be visited the Universiade Flame will be Tetyushi, Staroye Drozhzhanoe and Buinsk, where the main symbol of the World University Games will arrive on July 2.
