Experienced and Confident: Chinese Taipei is ready to amaze the World in 2017

KAZAN – “People from Chinese Taipei are courageous and willing people, I believe they are able to organize the event successfully.” FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien stated his expectation for the 2017 Summer Universiade at the future host city’s official reception on July 8th in Kazan. Same as FISU president, the Mayor of Taipei City, Hau Lung-bin, is full of confidence regarding the Summer Universiade in 2017. “With previous experiences of hosting the Deaflympics and the International Flora Expo, I believe that we are fully capable for hosting this mega-event”, the Mayor commented.

As a member of the observation delegation, Mayor Hau was in Kazan since the opening. When speaking of the ceremony, Hau expressed that he did feel some pressure after watching it. “It was a wonderful combination of advanced technology, culture, and city features. It was perfect and impeccable. But I am sure that Taipei City will also do a good job in the opening.”

Culture creativity and the Confucian Culture are what make Mayor Hau so confident with the Taipei Universiade. “The culture creativity industry is prosperous in Taipei, and we preserved the best spirit of the traditional Confucian culture, our Organizing Committee will definitely show these two traits within the 2017 Summer Universiade.”

The president of the University of Education Wu Ching-ji is also on the list of the observation delegation. From the perspective of an education scholar, he thinks that the Universiade is a great chance to reinforce the importance of physical education in Chinese Taipei. And most importantly, he hopes that through this opportunity, the local students may be able to learn to be a host, and receive guests from around the world. “It will be a great chance for them to improve their language ability and broaden their vision.”

Except from the cultural and education aspects, in order to host a wonderful event, Mayor Hau also hopes to beautify the city landscape and improve the transportation system. “We have learned a lot through this observation trip”, Hau points out. “Our Organizing Committee will try to absorb this knowledge, and realize it into our plan.”
