EUSA Championships Update

LUBJLJANA – In the build up towards the Kazan Universiade a number European Universities Championships took place as well. While we posted only Universiade related news during the Kazan Games, we would like to give a summary of the EUSA events that took place earlier. The 2013 European Universities Table Tennis Championship concluded on June 22nd with an exciting Closing Ceremony at the Campus of the Bülent Ecevit University in Zonguldak, Turkey. 119 participants representing 26 universities from 11 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event. In men’s finals, the title of champion went to Rzeszow University of Technology from Poland, beating the team from Russian State University for the Humanities. In the women’s finals, the title went to Kazan Volga Federal University from Russia, defeating the University of Warsaw from Poland. More info at .

 

The 2013 European Universities Football Championship in Almeria concluded on June 30th with an exciting final followed by the Closing Ceremony at “Campo de Futbol Universidad de Almeria”. Over 500 participants from 22 Universities from 11 countries representing 16 men’s and 8 women’s teams took part in this year’s edition of the event. In the men’s finals, the title of champion went to Catholic University San Antonio – UCAM Murcia – (Spain). In women finals, the title of champion went to University of Montpellier I (France) who have won an exciting final match against University of Malaga (Spain). More info at .

 

At the University of Cyprus Sports Hall in Nicosia, the closing ceremony of the 12th European Universities Volleyball Championships concluded on June 30th, 2013. 26 participating teams, representing 24 Universities from 12 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event. In the men’s finals, the title of champion went to the Technical University of Munich from Germany who won a thrilling final match against the University of Nis from Serbia. In the women’s finals, the title of champion went to the University of Cyprus who has won an exciting final match against Kuban State University of Physical Education Sport and Tourism from Russia. The 7th European Universities Handball Championship concluded on June 30th 2013 with an exciting Closing Ceremony at the Katowice-Szopienice Sport Venue. Over 300 participants from 20 Universities and 10 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event. In the women’s finals, the title of champion’s went to Lviv State University of Physical Culture (UKR) who has beaten the last year defender of the title, the University of Vincent Pol Lublin (POL). The match ended with a result 43:26. In the men’s finals, the title went to the University of Minho (POR) which has won a thrilling final match against University J.J.Strossmayera Osijek (CRO).
