Evaluation Committee visits Krasnoyarsk

KRASNOYARSK – The FISU Evaluation committee, represented by the FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien and Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond, joined by staff member Natalya Kosterna, Executive Assistant arrived in Krasnoyarsk on 3 October, 2013. There they were welcomed by Oleg Matytsin, RSSU President and FISU 1^st Vice-President. During several days the committee will evaluate sports venues and the infrastructure of the city which is the candidate for the 2019 Winter Universiade.

The visit started at the Siberian Federal University, where the FISU representatives took part in the best volunteers awarding ceremony. The volunteers from Krasnoyarsk who showed their best work at the 27^th Summer Universiade in Kazan were presented with the letters of thanks by the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk region Lev Kuznetsov.

“You became one of the best volunteer team in Kazan and I’m sincerely proud of you! We all should understand that we are at the beginning of our journey to the Universiade. We have well started, but in any competition the result is much more important than the start. I would like us to go on being so energetic and keep our state of mind and believe in our victory. One day the FISU President told me that our strongest opponent was ourselves. We were able to overcome others. Let’s prove to everyone that we deserve hosting the Winter Universiade and we are able to live up the hopes of young people of Siberia, Russia and the whole world”, the Governor Lev Kuznetsov said.

Later the FISU delegation together with Ekaterina Peshkova, the Vice-Governor of the region and Sergey Alekseev, the Minister of sports, tourism and youth policy visited one of the University’s campuses in order to evaluate the quality of students’ living conditions and get acquainted with the Universiade Headquarters’ activity. The volunteers working in the Headquarters expressed their hope that their dream to host the Winter Universiade would come true and small souvenirs were presented to the FISU members. In case of Krasnoyarsk’s victory in the bidding campaign the campuses of the Siberian Federal University will accommodate the student-athletes of the 2019 Winter Universiade.

The FISU delegation continued its visit with some other sports venues of the city. The visit will last for two more days.
