2015 WU Granada launches Mascot Design Competition

9 October 2013

GRANADA The Organising Committee of the 2015 Winter Universiade in Granada, Spain, has launched its design competition for the official mascot of the Games. It is an open competition and the design proposals will be assessed by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada.

Pre-registration is not required and the deadline is set for 20 December, 2013. The successful design will be announced in February 2014 and published on the official website of the Universiade at www.granada2015.org.

The jury will be chaired by the President of the 2015 Winter Universiade and will include the WU Manager, a representative of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada, a professor of the Department of Drawing of the University of Granada and a representative of the communications department of Granada 2015 among others.

The Universiade mascot happens to be one of the most important identifying elements of the games and an important marketing tool for each Universiade. Besides appearing on all event signage, the mascot is without doubt a genuine merchandising star.

The choice of the official mascot for the 2015 WU will be indeed one of the landmarks of Granada 2015 within its communication strategy and its development. Therefore the OC wanted to offer the whole community of Granada the opportunity to participate in its development.

Similarly, Granada 2015 is counting at all times on the expert advice of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada, which from the start has given its full support to the Universiade OC.
