Switzerland announces Curling Team for 2013 WU

17 October 2013

ST GALLEN – The Swiss University Sports Federation SHSV has announced the men’s and women’s curling teams to compete at the 26th Winter Universiade in Trentino (ITA) from 11-21 December, 2013.

Both teams secured their place by winning the qualification tournament last September. With Patrick Poli, Rainer Kobler, Sven Iten, Mario Freiberger and Stefan Meienberg, the Swiss delegation 2013 will bring a strong contender to Trentino.

By winning the final qualification game against the former silver medal winners of the previous Winter Universiade in Erzurum 2011, the Swiss Curling Team 2013 has left no doubts about their ambition to fight for another podium place at the Trentino curling tournament which will be held in Baselga di Piné.

Also the women’s team boasts potential: Several players have already won medals at Junior World Championships and at the Youth Olympic Games, and all players have already been representing Switzerland at European and World Championship events in the past.
