CSU-Winter Inspection Visit in Granada ends

GRANADAThe third day of the inspection visit of the CSU-Winter in Granada, host city of the 27th Winter Universiade in 2015, began with a meeting with the authorities of the Sierra Nevada. The delegation then inspected the infrastructures of the Sierra Nevada ski resort (offices, meeting rooms, medical center, media center etc. ). The day continued with a tour of the sports facilities that will host the alpine skiing, freestyle and snowboarding events.

In the afternoon, the delegation headed to Antequera, a town 100km away from Granada, to visit the ‘Athletics High Performance Center’, built in 2011, which has hosted many internationally renowned competitions and university championships and which will be the venue for figure skating and short track speed skating during the 2015 Winter Universiade. To conclude the visit, the delegation inspected two local hotels which may host the delegations and officials during the Games.

In the morning of 22 October, the last day of the CSU inspection visit to Granada, a series of workshops on the various functional areas of the Granada OC (IT, Media and Communication, overall coordination, accreditation, transportation, housing and human resources, international relations) were organized in partnership with members of the FISU delegation.

The CSU then met internally to prepare its conclusions. Finally, the CSU and the Universiade 2015 Granada Organising Committee met for a last meeting at which the inspection report was concluded and numerous tips were given to the local organizing committee. Kairis ULP, CSU –Winter Chair expressed the Committee’s satisfaction with the quality of sports and non-sports facilities as well as the motivation of the current OC staff, but also stressed FISU’s urgent expectations for certain functional areas. A calendar of upcoming CSU inspections as well as important deadlines was also developed by the CSU and delivered to the Granada OC.
