Men’s Ice Hockey will face-off Prior to Official Opening

TRENTO – The men’s ice hockey competition of the 26th Winter Universiade Trentino 2013 will be launched one day prior to the official Opening Ceremony which is on 11 December. The tournament will start on 10 December with the 12 registered men’s teams competing in three groups of four teams: the “Gianmario Scola” Arena of Alba di Canazei will stage the pool A, with Italy, United States, Sweden and Latvia, as well as the pool B, consisting of Russia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Great Britain. The teams in Pool C will play at the Palaghiaccio Comunale (Municipal Ice Arena) of Cavalese and will see Canada, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Japan compete. The two top teams from each group will go straight through to the quarter-finals, joined by the two best third.

The opening match will be the one which will see Italy against Latvia on December 10th at 4:30pm in Alba di Canazei. USA-Sweden will follow at 8:30pm, while the Group C will also go underway with Canada-Japan at 8:00pm in Cavalese.
