FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien (at Cavalese Ice Arena) is delighted with how the 2013 Winter Universiade is going so far

CAVALESE – The 2013 Winter Universiade is only four days old, but FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien couldn’t be happier with how the games are going so far.

“They are going as good as possible,” Gallien said during the first intermission of Canada’s 11-0 victory over Ukraine in men’s ice hockey.

“This I am very impressed with,” quickly pointing to the rink. “It is very fast,” he said with a smile.

13 medal events have been completed already and Gallien says that the quality on display has been excellent.

The President has already seen ice hockey, biathlon and ski jumping. He says he hopes to see skiing and figure skating, as well as the men’s gold medal hockey game among other events.

“I wanted to go as far as possible to see the venues and go in the valleys,” he said.

The Opening Ceremony was also very good according to Gallien.

“I am happy with the Opening Ceremony; it was original and also done by students and very interesting,” he said.

But one thing stands out over everything else for Gallien.

“I think everybody is smiling so I believe that they love the Universiade.”
