2015 WU Granada: Update

LAUSANNE – With a little more than a year to go, the 28th Winter Universiade will kick of on February 4th, 2015. As these games are approaching very fast, FISU would like to share with you some information in order to help you plan your participation.

In the table below you will find an overview of the venues for the different sports and disciplines.

Biathlon and Cross Country Skiing

FISU is working hard in order to define the location where Biathlon and Cross Country Skiing will be held. The possibility to have Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined as well is still open and the WU Dept. is studying all possibilities. You will be informed as soon as possible about the final decision.

Accommodations

Figure Skating and Short Track athletes will be accommodated in Antequera (105km from Granada), where the hotel is located about 1.5 km from the venue. All other athletes will be accommodated in some 10 hotels in the downtown area of Granada. All hotels have a high standard and are close to each other (ca. 1-2 km) with about a 5 to 25 minutes’ walk from the Main Accreditation Centre of the OC. All approved hotels can provide full board and laundry services.

Delegation Allocation

Delegations will be accommodated per sport, close to the venues (Ice Hockey, Figure Skating, Short Track Speed Skating and Curling) as this is the best solution. The student-athletes competing in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Freestyle Skiing will be accommodated in the hotels in Granada close to the exit towards the Sierra Nevada, in order to facilitate the dispatch of the busses.

International Zone & Mixed zone

Accreditation, OC Offices, IBC, MPC, MOC and Sport Command Centre (SCC) will be located at the Congress Centre of Granada.

Official Point of Entry

Granada airport, Malaga airport, Granada and Antequera train and bus stations are the official points of entry. Transportation from all points of entry will be organised.

Transport

All needs of transport are guaranteed. Ice Hockey and Curling teams will not get assigned any busses as their hotels are at walking distance from the competition venues.

Participation Fee

The participation fee for Granada is 60 EUR/day/person.

Entry Deadlines:

Please keep in mind that some deadline of entries like General Entry, Teams Entry, Nominative of ITOs, Quantitative Entry have been changed and must be submitted based on the deadlines described in the document which can be downloaded here. The intention of participation will be sent to you at the beginning of February 2014. The regulations and the first version of the competition schedule of the 2015 WU Granada will be sent to you at the beginning of March 2014.
