GWANGJU – During the FISU Forum in Gwangju Verena Burk, Member of FISU Executive Committee and Chair of Media and Communication Committee, and Kim Yoon-Suk, Vice-Mayor of Gwangju City, Vice-Chair and Secretary-General of the OC Summer Universiade Gwangju 2015, signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the Young Reporters’ Program. The MOU is based on the FISU guidelines for this program and includes all the regulations to host this event.

The Young Reporters’ Programme is an educational event during the Summer Universiades.

The last editions of the FISU Young Reporters’ Programme at the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China and at the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia were a great success. FISU once again will invite 12 young sport journalists from the five continents to the Games in Gwangju alongside the athletes where they will receive specialized media training.

The Young Reporters’ Programme (YRP) aims to include 21 to 25-year-old students or recent graduates in sports journalism from the five continents of Africa (2), America (4), Asia (2), Oceania (2) and Europe (2) right into the middle of the Games for 14 days, with full access to the competition venues and MPC. They will be joined by their peers from Korea.

FISU will nominate 12 (6 male & 6 female) Young Sport Journalists on the basis of performance and promise. They could be university students engaged in journalism studies or young graduates ready to embark on a full-time media career.
