Julio Filgueira
“CBDU renders thanks for the support of FGDU, Goiás and Goiânia Governments, highlighting the importance of these authorities on the Brazilian sport development. Every time we hold an event in Goiânia, we find here all the facilities to organize a successful competition, as was the case with JUBs 2013. With this Forum, we hope to search solutions and suggestions to improve the University sport in Brazil, bringing straight benefits to the athletes with the Summer Universiade of Brasília 2019”, explained Luciano Cabral.
“Universiade 2019 – From the planning to the presentation campaign”, was the theme of the first Conference of the Forum, addressed by Júlio Filgueira, CEO of Brasília 2019 OC. He spoke about the winning bid of Brasília; the reasons to hold the games; the challenges of the OC planning; the sports that will feature on the official programme; the enrolment of the main leaders on the organization of a major sporting event; and he also showed the projects for the sport venues and facilities for the second biggest multi-sport event in the world. “This initiative is a challenge for all of us of Brasília 2019 OC, in order to convince how useable the Games will be for the development and fortification of the dimension that educational sport in Brazil can reach”, he highlighted.

At the closing the Forum on Friday 28 March, the States Federations Presidents gathered together for the CBDU General Convention and the 2013 CBDU Awards, which honor the best athletes, officials, authorities and press who made a difference in Brazilian University Sport last year, which will also took place in Goiânia.
