FISU Medical Committee Chair inspects Preparations for Gwangju Universiade

2 April 2014

GWANGJU – Dr. Lawrence Rink, the Chair of FISU’s International Medical Committee (CMI), has come to Gwangju for a 3-day visit to check the status of the medical-related preparations of the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade.

Following the first visit in February of last year, Rink’s second visit to Gwangju will consist of on-site inspection of the polyclinics in the Athletes’ Village and the Universiade hospitals, as well as checking the plans for operation of medical stations, doping control, hygiene, quarantine, and catering services.

Especially, dr. Rink will check whether Gwangju’s medical and catering service system and facilities are up to international standards, as athletes and officials from more than 170 countries will be provided by these services in Gwangju, and give advice for appropriate preparation.

An official of the Gwangju Universiade Organising Committee commented, “This visit from the Chair of the CMI is a good chance to check the preparations being made for the medical services of the Gwangju Universiade.” He also added, “The Gwangju Universiade Organising Committee will continue to work closely with CMI for a successful Universiade.”
