ALMATY – Yesterday 2 April, the first meeting was held between FISU International Technical Committee (CTI) and the Almaty 2017 Organizing Committee.
The opening remarks were made by Roger Roth, CTI Chair. Ilya Urazakov, the Director of the Almaty 2017 Organizing Committee, informed the participants about the preparation process for hosting the Games in Almaty. In total, the preparation process for the Sporting Event consists of four steps. Today, the works on the first step are complete – Strategic Planning, General Master Plan Modernization, with a project-oriented approach. In April this year, the Organizing Committee starts the implementation of the Second Step – Operational Planning, to Functional Divisions.
The main discussion between CTI and the Organizing Committee was formed around the topic of developing cooperation between all project participants and establishing close connections between functional divisions like Medics, Broadcasters, IT experts, Doping Control, to accomplish the common goal: host the 28th Winter Universiade 2017 on a high International level.
On conclusion, CTI has started its work on the Universiade Venues to determine the degree of preparation to host the Games. The CTI will assess the existing sporting Venues and will review the construction of new Venues. The CTI members will also assess the activity of the Organizing Committee on this stage of preparation to host the Winter Universiade in Almaty.
The inspection results will be summarized on 4 April, 2014, in Almaty.
