Štrbské Pleso – On 27 April, FISU Technical Committee experts (CTI) arrived in Štrbské Pleso where they joined the Štrbské Pleso/Osrblie 2015 Organizing Committee for the Nordic Sports and Biathlon of the 2015 Winter Universiade. The main purpose of this visit was to review the sport event preparation and evaluation of the existing sport venues.
Roger Roth, CTI Chair, and Slovak University Sports Association president Július Dubovský, made the opening remarks and welcomed everyone in Slovakia. The main discussion between CTI and the Organizing Committee concerned the preparation process for hosting the Nordic Skiing and Biathlon events of the Granada 2015 Winter Universiade in Štrbské Pleso and Osrblie and to accomplish the common goal of both: host the 27th Winter Universiade 2015 on a high International level. During the second part of the meeting the delegates were joined by Michal Sýkora, the mayor of Štrba, who fully supports the Games and Organizing Committee’s activities.
The committee visited to sport venues planned for holding the Universiade Games. Also, the committee members assessed the Organisation Committee’s activity for staging this section of the Winter Universiade at the present stage of preparations. All the conclusions of venue visits and the schedule of Nordic Skiing was discussed during the next day session
The technical advisor of the Universiade Village Mr. Shen Zhen made an inspection of the accommodation facilities in Štrbské Pleso. The inspection was continued the next day in Osrblie.
The CSU Inspection Visit will follow the CTI inspection today, on 30 April, 2014, also in Štrbské Pleso.
