FISU Delegation visits Gwangju for inspection of Universiade Preparations

GWANGJU – The FISU delegation, including Kole Gjeloshaj (FISU Director of Education), Jing Zhao (Summer Universiade Manager) together with Seungchul Go (FISU Staff member), is visiting Gwangju to inspect the preparations being made for the 2015 Gwangju Universiade, from July 21st to 24th.

The main purpose of this inspection is to conduct a meeting with non-sport functional areas, deliver protocol and education seminars as well as further discussion on the overall Universiade preparation.

During this visit, Jing Zhao and Seungchul Go will have meetings with the key departments on non-sports matters, such as delegation services, language services, visa service, publication, uniform, transportation, arrival and departure, cultural events, Athletes’ Village, accommodation, security, preparation for the Heads of Delegations Meeting, and also have onsite inspection on the Athletes’ Village.

 

Meanwhile seminars on protocol and education will be delivered by Kole Gjeloshaj, together with further meetings and inspections regarding protocols during events including opening, closing and awards ceremony, torch relay, as well as the hosting of the 2015 FISU conference. For this event, the purpose of the meeting, that was also attended by Yang-ja Hong, member of the FISU Education committee, was to evaluate the level of preparation of the event that will take place form July 11th to 13th, 2015. The main theme of the Conference will focus on the impact of university sports on the global community. The FISU representatives met with Mr. Sang Cheol Park, dean of Planning, Mr. Hyan-Young Cho, dean of health science and also Mrs. Joo-Kyung Park director of the International education center at the Honam University which is the host institution of the FISU Summer Conference 2015. They visited the campus of the University which is welcoming 8,000 students.

Kim Yoon-suk, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee, said, “Now that there is less than a year to prepare for the Gwangju Universiade, this FISU inspection will be an opportunity to check on the preparations made so far and supplement any matters that are needed in order to host a successful Universiade.”

 

The organizing committee held a briefing session in order to make every effort to prepare well in advance.
