Team GBR dominates 13th WUC Rowing

 Men’s Four medal podium

GAVELINES – The 13th World University Rowing Championships in Gravelines, France came to a close on Sunday night, 14 September. 335 athletes representing 33 nations participated in the event, which is a new participation record for this FISU championship.

Thirteen races were scheduled on the sunny basin of the PArc on the banks of the river Aa. In the end, two countries have earned the lion’s share of hardware in monopolizing four gold medals each: Britain who finished first in the medal tally of this championship (4 gold, 1 silver & 3 bronze) and Poland (4 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze). Following behind are Hungary (2 gold & 2 silver), Germany (2 gold & 1 bronze) and host country France which won five medals (1 gold, 2 silver & 3 bronze).

The event was broadcast live on Dailymotion and more than 15,000 unique visitors followed the competition on the web during the two days of broadcasting.

The next World Championship will be held in Poznan (Poland) in 2016.
