HOD delegates
STRBSKE PLESO – On Sunday, 28 September the Heads of Delegation meeting for the 2015 WU in Slovakia ended. The day began with a press conference attended by Kairis Ulp, Chair of the Committee for Supervision of the Winter Universiade, Leonz Eder, member of the CSU-UH, Chief of Protocol and FISU Vice-President; Roger Roth, Chair of CTI-UH; Milan Augustin, Director of the Winter Universiade; Peter Hamaj OC Secretary-General; Julius Dubovsky, OC Vice-President and President of the Slovak University Sports Association and Michal Sykora, Mayor of Štrba.

Kairis Ulp thanked the OC, the Slovak University Sports Association and the local government authorities for all the work done in a record time. Leonz Eder commented: “You have successfully organized two events in the past. We are really proud to return to your country and we hope that our Universiade will promote this wonderful region of the High Tatras.”
Roger Roth confirmed his satisfaction with the current preparations in Osrblie and Strbske Pleso. “The sports facilities that will host the various competitions are perfectly adapted to the standards of International Sports Federation. CTI believes that all events will be held successfully.”
Osrblie competition venue
Meanwhile, the delegates also visited Osrblie to inspect the sports facilities that will host the biathlon competitions and the hotel Bystra where the participants will be lodged while it will also serve as the accreditation center. The competition venue in Orsblie has already hosted a lot of international events of the IBU, but also the Biathlon World Championships in 1997. After the Winter Universiade, the venue will host the IBU Cup (from 7 to 9 February 2015). According to the delegates, the quality of the track that will host the competititons is very good. A new multifunctional competition office has also been recently built and will be completely ready in the next 2 months.
Q&A session
The day ended with the traditional question and answer session during which the delegates from the different countries had the opportunity to ask the members of the OC and FISU all matters relating to the organization of the Universiade (competition and training, accommodation and catering, transport, security etc.).
