GWANGJU – The IT Contest featured individual or team participation and received 58 applications. The participating contestants were required to submit thesis papers or smartphone applications that were aimed to finding effective ways to promote the Universiade Gwangju 2015. After tough screening and interviews, 7 teams were awarded cash prizes and will be given incentives if they choose to apply for SK C&C jobs.
KWON Tae Hyun and LEE Min Kyung from Sookmyung Women’s University, Department of Computer Science, won the gold medal for smartphone application, ‘2015 GWANGJU UNIVERSIADE’, which is a one-stop app for looking up competition schedules, venue information, competition results and records etc.
Students from the Yeongseok Park Community Design Center in Urban Action Network won the silver medal in the IT thesis category with ‘Vitalizing the local sporting community network and IT integration strategies’.
The GUOC Secretary General KIM Yoon-suk said “I hope the Universiade Gwangju 2015 will be for the youth and created by the youth. Therefore, it is essential for the youth to be a part of the Universiade. Their creative ideas and passion will be the foundation of this event.”
SK C&C is managing the Total Integration Management System (TIMS) of the entire Universiade. The IT Company will utilize the applications and ideas from the IT Contest to promote and help operate the Universiade Gwangju 2015.
