15 May 2015

GWANGJU – On 15 May, the Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee (GUOC) signed a partnership agreement with VIPS steakhouse.

VIPS is a Korean restaurant chain owned by CJ Foodville of CJ Group. The restaurant serves top-quality steaks on high temperature barbeques and a seasonal salad bar that carries a wide variety of dishes and fresh vegetables. As of 2015, the chain has 112 restaurants in Korea and offers 90 different menu items.

The Korean steakhouse chain has become an official supplier for the Gwangju Universiade. As a result of the new found partnership, VIPS is planning to provide meals and snacks for the media. In addition, the GUOC has been granted the rights to use the VIPS name and logo for future marketing activities.

“The GUOC is proud and thankful to have VIPS on board with the Gwangju Universiade. I hope the 2015 Summer Universiade can be a stepping stone for the Korean steakhouse to expand its market throughout the world.” said GUOC Secretary General Kim Yoon-suk.

CJ Foodville CEO Jung Moon Mok said, “VIPS is happy to be a part of the first multi-sports event held in Jeolla Province. We will do our best to help Gwangju host a successful Universiade.”
