Motivating our Athletes is our Task

GWANGJU – The French delegation at the 28th Summer Universiade has two freelance photographers and a videographer from a French magazine named ‘Sport Mag’ who are covering the delegation’s athletes at the games.
“It’s always a pleasure to take part in the Universiade and to chase our athletes during their competitions. It’s surely anintensivework that can exceed 16 hours per day, but we like doing it”, commented Etienne Jeanneret, a Frenchprofessionalphotographer who also followed the French Universiade delegation in Kazan (2013) and Belgrade (2009). “After taking more than 1,000 pictures per day, the hard work starts as we have to select the best shots. These photos are used in our different social media, on the French Sport’s Federation website and also in flyers and booklets later on.”

As it is tough to cover all French athletes’ competitions, the 2 photographers try to focus on those sports where French athletes might have a chance to win a medal.

For the work conditions, the photographers are very satisfied with what was provided by the Korean hosts.

The Communication team is trying to encourage and motivate the athletes by putting up in their accommodation in the Village a ‘Wall of Fame’ with pictures of the delegation’s competitions and medals. Many athletes from other nationalities visit the small stand of the Frenchdelegation and expressed their admiration for the idea.
