Najmeh Khidmati: a Young Talented Girl

GWANGJUNo matter what people say and how many challenges you have to face, fighting for herself and living her dream is what distinguishes this 19-year old young Iranian, Najmeh Khedmati who has convinced everyone with her awe-inspiring skills and mouth dropping perfection in her performance during the 28th Summer Universiade that took place in Gwangju from 3rd June – 14th June 2015.

“When I started my career as a shooter, most of my relatives were against it and they said it was not a sport for women,” says Khedmati. She further adds, “My parents have been very supportive and throughout they stood by me when I decided to choose for shooting.”

The 2014 Asian games gold medallist Khedmati, calls Birjand home, a small city in Iran. This city has very few facilities for sports, however this talented young shooter has still managed to snatch a gold medal in women’s 10m air pistol shooting by topping the podium with a score of 206.6. She has also picked up two bronze medals in team shooting events during the Gwangju Universiade.

“Despite of shortage of the bullets and lack of facilities, Najmeh has still managed to take the gold medal. She has made us proud,” says Amir Hossein Solat, her shooting coach.
