LAUSANNE – On 31st of January 2016 Professor Kairat Zakiryanov (FISU Assessor) informed FISU that the Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism will host the FISU Winter Universiade Conference during the during the Winter Universiade. This educational event is supported by the Ministry of Education and Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Conference will take place on the 3 and 4 February in Almaty. The themes of the Conference will be: “University sport: the health and future of society”.
FISU Education committee representative Kole Gjeloshaj had an official meeting in Almaty with the members of the WU Conference working group. During the meeting was discussed the organizational questions, format of Conference, theme, subthemes, dates, creating logo and web site… During the meeting was agreed the steps of preparation to the WU Conference. The working group is led by Mr. Kairit Zakiryanov, the President of the Institute, who was recently elected member of the FISU Executive Committee and Alexander Makogonov, 1st Vice-Rector of Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism
The Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture was established in 1945 in 2003 the name change into the Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism. In 2013 the Academy became the full member of Bologna Process, having signed the Bologna Convention. The number of students is 2458.
