Implementation of the FISU-ISF Partnership at 2016 WUC Cross Country

18 February 2016

LAUSANNE – FISU and the International School Sport Federation (ISF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the occasion of the Gwangju 2015 Summer Universiade. This agreement, that aimed to develop an enhanced cooperation between both organisations, will see its first implementation during the upcoming 2016 FISU World University Cross Country Championship to be held in Cassino (ITA) on 12 March.

Indeed, the winners of the World School Cross Country Championships have been invited to take part in the WUC, representing the ISF. The same procedure has been extended to the WUC Triathlon and the WUC Orienteering. The objective of such inclusion is to promote the continuity between school and university sport, therefore raising the awareness on both movements and giving the opportunity to the best school athletes to face their university-level counterparts.

FISU and ISF will evaluate the results of this partnership and its evolution in the future and will work with their respective members to promote the events.
