KRASNOYARSK – At the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum 2016 the agreement was signed between the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Krasnoyarsk Branch of Rostelecom Company on cooperation to create and develop an information, communication and telecommunication infrastructure during the preparation and staging of the 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk.

The agreement was signed by Yuri Lapshin, Deputy Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Government, and Vladimir Kubarev, Director of the Krasnoyarsk Branch of Rostelecom Company. According to the agreements, Rostelecom plans to invest at least 100 million roubles for the development of a telecommunication infrastructure.

Yuri Lapshin pointed out that the signed agreement holds a special place in the structure of events dedicated to the preparation for the 2019 Winter Universiade. “The Territory is facing the task of staging the 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk at the highest level. And we are succeeding in this. The achieved arrangements within this agreement will allow the OC to use the potential of the biggest communications provider and provide the Universiade venues with highly efficient information and telecommunication networks,” the Deputy Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Government emphasized.

Deputy Chairman Vladimir Kubarev noted that the Rostelecom Company, while being the general partner of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, gained all the competencies necessary for ensuring the telecommunication infrastructure at major international sports events. “We already invested funds in the development of the infrastructure in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. From this year, in particular, we start to develop communication lines for the 2019 Winter Universiade venues according to all requirements of the Organising Committee of the Games,” Vladimir Kubarev highlighted.

In the future, the established telecommunication infrastructure of the 2019 Winter Universiade will allow to broadcast sports events both at the regional and international level. Moreover, the organized networks in the Universiade Village will allow students to use Internet at high speeds, and the scientific community will be able to use available telecommunication facilities for their scientific activities.
