TRENTO – On 31 May, 2016, the University of Trento will host the European ‘regional’ final of the ‘Global Sport Innovation Competition’, covering the following countries: Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and Netherlands. The winner will take part in the Rio de Janeiro final.
The ‘Global Sport Innovation Competition’, created by the Hype Foundation, is an international competition for start-ups that brings together entrepreneurs from all across the world, focusing on innovative products and technologies connected to the world of sports.
The international final will take place in Rio de Janeiro, during the 2016 Olympic Games, where 8 innovative start-ups, selected to represent different territories, will compete for the first prize. These 8 start-ups will be selected through different ‘regional’ finals that will each host 10 of the 350-400 applying start-ups.
The participating start-ups will pitch their ideas before a grand audience of investors, accelerators and key players of the sports and innovation industry.
Trento Regional Final
On May 31st 2016, the University of Trento will host the European “regional” final, covering the following Countries: Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and Netherlands. The winner will take part in the Rio de Janeiro final.
2013 Winter Universiade Legacy
“This event is a direct legacy of the 2013 Winter Universiade in Trentino, where we brought forward the theme of the relationship between sport and innovation as a key aspect of sport in the modern world and indeed this was the title of the 2013 Winter Universiade conference: ‘University Sport: Inspiring Innovation’,“ Paolo Bouquet, Associate Professor at the University of Trento commented. “We are very proud that the Universiade Conference has been the seed for this and other evolutions in our University and in the Trentino region.”
The Trento final OC has received the patronage of the Italian National Olympic Committee and of the Sport Office of The Presidency of the Council of Ministers. In addition, the following institutions have been invited to the event:
