2017 WU Inspection Visit – Day 2

ALMATY – On 3 May, the FISU Supervision Committee held a working meeting in Almaty where they were presented an interim report on the accomplished work in the different functional areas for the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty.

The meeting was comprised of CSU Chair Marian Dymalski, CSU Vice-Chair Kairis Ulp, Winter Universiade Director Milan Augustin, Almaty 2017 Winter Universiade Organising Committee Director Asset Abdualiyev and the Heads of the Organising Committee departments.

During the meeting the delegates of the 2017 WU Organising Committee gave an update about the preparation progress for the upcoming Games, tackling the different departments: transportation, accommodation, media, broadcasting and ICT, sports services, test events, ceremonies, venue management, publications, medical services, Athletes’ Village, Delegation services etc. After the presentation the answers for pending questions were given.

We came here to inspect the preparation for the Games and to help in solving some issues if needed. Today, at the beginning of our visit we had a very fruitful meeting with the Organising Committee and I was satisfied with the outcome”, CSU Chair Marian Dymalski noted. “We received a good interim report from the Organising Committee. I can confidently say that my first impression is very good. I was involved in the preparation of several Universiades and I think that people who are involved in the preparation of this one are doing very well”, the CSU Chair stressed in his interview with almaty2017.com.

In the afternoon the Supervision Committee inspected the construction of the Athletes’ Village and Ice Palace with a 12,000 capacity.

We visited the Athletes’ Village which really impressed us and I am pretty sure that the athletes will be happy to stay here. Generally speaking, I think that the level of preparation for the Universiade is very good”, CSU Chair Marian Dymalski commented.
