TAIPEI CITY – With fifteen months to go, the 2017 Summer Universiade is approaching, and the Organising Committee is getting into its readiness phase. Next week, the first FISU Summer Universiade Supervision Committee inspection visit will take place in Taipei, and in order to better organise this visit and also to exchange the most recent updates on the overall preparation, a FISU delegation, led by the Summer Universiade Director Marc Vandenplas, the International Technical Committee – Summer Universiade Sub-committee Chair Jean-Paul Clémençon, the Medical Committee Chair Dusan Hamar, the Education Services Director Kolë Gjeloshaj as well as other FISU staff members, is being been conducted from 5 to 12 May in the host city.
This inspection visit, started with the medical inspection on 5 May, will last for the full week, and covers all important areas of the Universiade preparation, including but not limited to medical services, doping control, protocol and ceremonies, FISU Conference, sports and sport venues development, marketing and branding, the Athletes’ Village, food and beverage, accommodation, transportation, security and other key topics. More than 30 functional areas of the Organising Committee will be involved throughout the inspection, and exchange their ideas with the FISU delegates. Venue visits are organised to all Universiade key venues, including the Athletes’ Village, all competition venues, major training venues as well as ceremony venues.
It is only early spring but the temperature in the city is already rising up to 30 degrees. All the meetings and discussions are as heated as it is in the city. Let us get ready for the CSU inspection and warm-up for a successful 2017 Summer Universiade.
