New Director for 2017 WU

ALMATY – On 14 June 14, Nail Nurov was appointed as the new Director for the ‘Almaty 2017 Winter Universiade Organizing Directorate’. Prior to his appointment to lead the Organizing Directorate, he was the Head of the Physical Culture and Sport Department in Almaty.

Nail Nurov was born on May 21, 1967. He is a graduate of Kazakhstan Institute of Physical Culture in Almaty (Teacher and Coach) and the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Law Specialist).

In different years he worked as a General Director for ‘Glavtour’, LLP ‘Nur’, as President of JSC ‘Kazsportobespecheniye’ and also headed the Tourism and Sport Agency in Astana.

Nail Nurov previously also worked as a Director of the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty, Director of ‘Medeu’ High-Mountain Ice Rink, Head of the Almaty Department for Tourism and Sport, Head of the 7th Asian Games 2011 and Olympic Torch Relay, and the Head of the ‘Alau’ Ice Palace in Astana.
