2017 WU: English Classes for Medical Professionals

ALMATY – On the threshold of the 28th Winter Universiade 2017 in Almaty, the medical professionals involved in the event have started learning English. The English courses will be held from 4 July to 1 December in Suleyman Demirel University.

The English language teacher Oxana Syurmen told about the goals of the courses. She also expressed a hope that during the Universiade the medical representatives will be able to communicate with international guests.

The English courses for medical professionals are being held in Suleyman Demirel Universiade. We are preparing the medical professionals to help our international guests during the Universiade, and adequately react to different situations that will occur during the games. We hope that our students will be capable of helping the international guests and communicate with them in English language”, Oxana Syurmen commented.

The main goal of the course is to improve the knowledge of English language of medical professionals involved in the 28th Winter Universiade.

The course programme was developed by the teachers of different universities of Almaty together with the Almaty 2017 Winter Universiade Organizing Directorate.

One of the medical professionals Guliya Tusunzhanova told about the advantages and benefits of the courses. “This is a great opportunity for us to learn English from professionals. The programme of the course will help us to provide the medical care for participants of the Games during the Universiade”, she said.

Earlier, the similiar English courses had started for other specialised services of the city. These courses were held in four leading universities of Almaty (Kazakh State Teacher Training University, Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University).
