MISKOLC – Everything is ready in Miskolc, Hungary to host the 20th World University Orienteering Championship starting on 30 July, 2016.
A record number of participants from 34 countries are coming to the 20th World University Orienteering Championship in Miskolc, Hungary. The FISU delegates are happy with the organisation so far as it has been reveiled in the CISCA meeting today.
After the meeting, the delegates were delighted with the preparations of the event, the conditions are suitable for the athletes to perform well on the competition. More than 100 competitors were already accredited on this first day, mostly from overseas while accreditation will conclude on 31 July, 2016.
Mr Ola Kaberg, FISU technical delegate highlighted that the most modern technology, Punching system Sportident Air+ is going to be used on the very well-planned competition thanks to the expert colleagues of the Hungarian Orienteering Federation.
The Organizing Committee highlighted that more than 100 volunteers will ensure the smooth running of the event. The Organizing Committee would like to give a chanche for the competitors arriving from several places of the world to discover the most beautiful places of Miskolc and the surrounding areas. Therefore the sprint competition is going to be held on the spectacular Lillafüred on Sunday, the long distance on Királyasztal (King’s Table) on Monday, the sprint relay in the downtown of Miskolc on Tuesday afternoon and the middle distance and the relay on Jávorkút on Wednesday and Thursday.
