TAIPEI CITY – The 2nd CTI Visit to Taipei was successfully concluded in the afternoon of 2 October at the 2017 SU Organising Committee Headquarters, Taipei Stadium. Both FISU and CTI delegates were grateful for the conscientiousness of the TOC. Despite the typhoon, TOC showed the flexibility and adoptability to rearrange all inspection meetings before and after the typhoon and a professional teamwork and sense of responsibility towards the Games.
Marc Vandenplas, the FISU Summer Universiade Director, and Jean-Paul Clémençon, the Chair of FISU Summer Universiade International Technical Committee, visited Breeze Canal in New Taipei City to observe the Marathon Swimming test event. ‘’Better than the best’’, said by the chairman while being asked his opinion about the test event. Director Vandenplas also said that the Marathon Swimming event in 2017 SU will be very successful, he even affirmed furthermore, concerning the event, that ‘’Now there is nothing to worry about! ’’
In the closing meeting of the CTI inspection visit, Ulf Ohrman, the basketball technical delegate mentioned that, basketball in Chinese Taipei is a very popular sport and all basketball venues here are capacious. He noted that the equipment in competition and training venues should have the same layout in order to avoid any problems of adjustment for athletes.
At the beginning of this October, the construction of basketball venues will be completed and no later than January, all the equipment and facilities will meet the standard of FIBA and FISU.
The technical delegates were grateful for the conscientiousness of the TOC
Mr. Maz Sweeney, the technical delegate for football had concerns on the dates of getting the certification on football fields approval. However, the installation of the turf at Fu-Jen Catholic University has been completed and received a two star certification by the FIFA.
Installations in other competition and training venues are scheduled to be finished in January 2017; all related work tasks such as application for accreditation and the installation of equipment will be finished on schedule.
Regarding the track and field competition, the technical delegate, Tapani Ilkka stressed the importance of transportation during the event period; in other words, all athletes should be moved to competition venues punctually. As transportation to the farthest venue takes no longer than 20 minutes, the delegate was very satisfied. Mirjana Cvijanovic, the IT consultant, gave credit on the close cooperation between TOC and its partners who were in charge of the ITC system, broadcasting, and the opening and closing ceremonies.

This CTI inspection lasted 10 days, a total of 12 sports were inspected, and the confirmation of the allocation of 45 competition and training venues overall. The number of international technical delegates and referees/judges, and the confirmation lists of competition agendas and the venue equipment lists were completed in this visit.
