TAIPEI CITY – Today, 18 October, FISU President Oleg Matytsin signed a MOU with M. YOU Shih-ming, Deputy CEO of the TUOC, the Organising Committee of the 29th Summer Universiade and with mrs Verena Burk, Chair of the FISU Media and Communication Committee.
In this way he sealed the partnership between FISU and the Taipei 2017 Universiade Organising Committee for the next edition of the FISU Young Reporters’ Programme that will be held during the 2017 Summer Universiade.
The Young Reporters’ Programme ‘U-MEDIA’ is an educational programme to provide young aspiring (sport) journalists with a unique training experience during FISU’s major multi-sport events and other activities within the International University Sports Movement.
The FISU Young Reporters’ Programme (YRP) will be organised during the 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei as part of the official programme of these games. It will comprise a seminar with lectures from experienced professionals and an internship within the FISU U-Media-Team.
Mr. YOU Shih-ming was very proud to represent the TUOC for this very important signature. He reiterated the will of the Organizing Committee to support this program for young journalists. This program will fully be part of the Unversiade programme.
Verena Burk underlined the will of FISU to consider this program as a part of the legacy of the Universiade since it will allow young journalists begin their careers after this event.
Finally the President of FISU, Oleg Matytsin, thanked Mr. You-Ming Shih for his warm welcome. More broadly, he thanked the organizing committee for its efforts in the preparation of the Universiade. He stressed the importance of this program for young journalists in the context of the FISU activities and the promotion of university sport.

The FISU YRP is a partnership between FISU and the Local Organising Committee of the Summer Universiade (TUOC 2017).
For this 4th edition of the FISU Young Reporters’ Programme (YRP) at the 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei, the candidates will be between the ages of 21 and 25, undertaken full or part time studies towards a career in (sport) journalism, communications or other area of news media (video, photo etc.). Recent graduates working as interns or similar training roles in established news organisations or media outlets may also be considered.
FISU will select 12 successful international applicants from each continent to take part in the YRP. Preferably two per continent, i.e. Africa (2), Americas (4), Asia (2), Oceania (2) and Europe (2). The selection will preferably also be gender balanced (6 male & 6 female), depending on the quality of the candidates. The successful applicants will be joined by their peers from the host country, selected by the LOC.
