3×3 FISU World University League 2016: Technical Meeting and Team Draw

XIAMEN – On the afternoon of 20 October, the technical meeting of 3×3 FISU World University League 2016 took place at the Royal Hotel, Xiamen, China. FISU Technical Delegate Kosta LLiev, FIBA development manager Robert Rieblinger, dean of Physical Education of Huaqiao University Xing Zunming attended the meeting, as well as the delegates of all the participating teams.

Kosta IlievThe League will be a new form of sport events to attract young people to go outside and to play on the court”, Kosta LLiev explained with a smile. “Although basketball is popular enough in university, 3×3 is younger, wilder and more passionate to play.”

Robert Rieblinger introduced the detailed rules of the game during the meeting. Afterwards, the team draw was held under the inspection of the team delegates.

“The other 3 teams in our pool are good”, Mehdi Nasirzade, coach of Payame Noor University (IRI) said after the team draw. “But there is no problem, and I do trust my team.”

The league is going to officially open today. In the coming two days, 32 teams from 23 countries will compete for the first two positions of each group qualifying for the second round.
