ALMATY – On 21 October, 100 days prior to the 2017 Winter Universiade, ticket sales for the upcoming University Games have started. The Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek was one of the first to purchase a ticket for the Universiade at the ticket office right in front of the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace.
Now, citizens and guests of Almaty will have an opportunity to purchase tickets for the Universiade at the ticket offices of Baluan Sholak Sports Palace, State Circus, Republic Palace and ‘Meloman’ as well as online. The official websites for the sale of tickets are www.almaty2017.com, www.fisuticket.com and www.kassir.kz.
The official ticket operator for the Universiade is KASSIR.KZ.
Tickets are available for the following competitions: Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, Nordic combined, snowboard, freestyle, curling, short track, ice hockey, ski jumping and speed skating. The complete 2017 Winter Universiade competition schedule is available on www.almaty2017.com.
Ticket prices range from 300 to 3,500 tenge for sporting events and from 3,000 to 15,000 tenge for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Universiade.
According to preliminary data, the estimated number of funds raised from the implementation of tickets might reach 200 million tenge.
From 25 October onwards, the leading ticket operators of Kazakhstan are expected to start selling the tickets: ticketon.kz, zakazbiletob.kz, bilet.meloman.kz, biletastana.kz, koncertyastana.kz.
In the meanwhile the city also celebrated the opening of a new winter season in ‘Medeu’ High-mountain Ice Rink in conjunction with the 100 days prior to the Universiade in presence of the Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek. The event was organized by the Winter Universiade Organizing Directorate with the support of the official partner ‘Bank of Astana’. During the event, the certificates of the Winter Universiade 2017 Ambassadors were given to famous biker Dmitriy Petrukhin, circus artist Murat Muturganov and famous director, actor and screenwriter Nurtas Adambayev.
The ‘Medeu’ High-mountain Ice Rink is located 1,691meters above sea level. The ice surface amounts 10,500 m² which allows to hold competitions of different levels. More than 120 world records were set at the rink. ‘Medeu’ is the highest located complex in the world designed for winter sports. The capacity of the venue is 8,100 seats.
During the 2017 WU, the rink will host the speed skating competitions.
