ALMATY – In a communication, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Mr. Bakytzhan Abdirovich Sagintayev pointed out the importance of the Winter Universiade as an event of the highest organisational level, since it will attract many sports fans.
The Prime Minister instructed the Almaty Mayor, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Education and Science to carry out the relevant work regarding hosting the event and the preparation of the national team of the country.
The Prime Minister also instructed the mayors of the regions Astana and Almaty to take personal control of hosting the regional stages of the WU torch relay.
The 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty will be held from 29 January to 8 February expecting some 2,000 student-athletes from more than 50 countries to compete in 12 sports.
