ALMATY: Argentina is not often part of the Winter Universiade. For Almaty, this South American country has sent two representatives to Kazakhstan. Alpine Skier Tomas Bacigalupo and snowboarder Iñaki Odriozola.
“We’re proud to be here, we will try our hardest to represent Argentina,” says 21 years old Odriozola, a student of University of Business and Social Sciences: “I didn’t expect so much about it. I came with no idea about Kazakhstan, but people are so nice, everything with a smile, asking you what you want… it’s a different culture, it’s amazing to be here.”
18 years old Bacigalupo, who studies technology in Buenos Aires, agrees and adds that Kazakhs are surprised to see people from Argentina: “Every time they see us, they ask us for pictures and they want to talk about Argentina, they want to know a lot.”
In our video interview, these two young athletes and both friends talk about their biggest dreams and what’s it like to practice winter sport in Argentina.
