GALLEN – The FISU inspection team for the 2018 WUC Cross Country, composed by the Technical delegate Carlos Cardoso, WUC Assistant Pauline Hamonic and Paola Matringe, travelled to the City of St. Gallen, Switzerland in order to evaluate the progress of the local Organizing Committee. They met with OC Chair Daniel Studer, Technical Chair Hanspeter Feller, Martin Bühler, representative of the City of St. Gallen, Cécile Büsser, Secretary General of the Swiss University Sports Federation as well with Leonz Eder, SUSF Managing Director and Martina Flockerzi, responsible for Marketing, PR and Delegation Services.
The main issue was the finalization of the course setting. The competition will be held in the sport fields of Gründenmoos-Breitfeld. After some correction of the previous plans, the FISU Technical Delegate Carlos Cardoso was satisfied with the design of the course: “We will have an interesting competition both for the athletes and the spectators”, he commented.
The members of the OC informed the FISU delegation also about side events such as a convention for coaches and trainers, a public course and a charity run. Additionally topics such as International relations, Marketing and PR, Medical Services, Ceremonies, Accreditation, Food and Beverages and the Accommodation were discussed in the four star Hotel Säntispark, the official hotel for the 2018 WUC Cross Country.
After the two days inspection OC Chair Daniel Studer was very satisfied with the FISU visit: “We got the confirmation that we are on the right track with our preparations, and additionally we have received many important and useful advice and recommendations from our FISU guests. This will help us with the further preparation of the 2018 WUC Cross Country.”
