TAIPEI CITY – As Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade will open just days away on Saturday evening of the 19th, the Main Press Center, where it will house more than 1,000 journalists from around the globe, opened at historical warehouse #2 and #3 of the Songshan Cultural & Creative Park to provide the best service for the media during the Games.
Ms. Li-chiung Su, CEO of the 2017 Taipei Universiade, Mr. Shih-ming You, Deputy CEO, Ms. Yu-yen Chien, Director General of Marketing and Communication Department, Ms. Fang-ju Lin, Director of Accreditation Service Division, representatives from Shih-Shin University and many sponsors attended the MPC opening ceremony.
The MPC has the seating capacity of four hundred for the working media. Warehouses #2 and #3 cover the total area of 778 sq. ft. as both warehouses interpenetrating to each other with the old raised track floor in the middle of each warehouse. All five wood and brick warehouses on the campus were built in the 1940s, and the Tobacco transport belt was still preserved and visible at Warehouse #2.
The historical warehouse has been transformed to a genuine press centre with office space for a News Room, a Press and Photographer Working Space, FISU Young Reporter Offices, FISU & TUOC Offices. With the support from the sponsors, MPC also offers massage chairs for media. In addition to Rate Card services, MPC will also provide famously acclaimed snacks from all over Chinese Taipei such as beef tongue cake from Yilan, sun cake from Taichung and longan cake from Changhua.
With more than forty 42-inch TV sets in the MPC, media will have access to all broadcastings of the competitions. High-speed internet, INFO computers and Xerox machines are present as well for the convenience of media members. Volunteers and staff will be providing needed services to the media in the venue as well as at the Information Desk.
