5th FISU Gender Equality Award goes to NUSF of Costa Rica

TAIPEI CITY – Within the framework of the round table ‘Gender Equality’ organized by the FISU Committee for Gender Equality, the FISU Gender Equality Award was presented for the fifth time.

 

Palestine, Kenya, Israel and Costa Rica presented projects of a very high level, showing proposals for incorporation and development of gender equality policies in their countries and continental regions.

 

Costa Rica with its project plan of effective equality between men and women in sport, was selected as the winner.

 

The National University Sports Federation in conjunction with the universities of Costa Rica have developed important strategies to strengthen the incorporation of gender equality policies.

The NUSF has led an action plan with different national organizations with the purpose that sport gender parity is to be incorporated in all scenarios in the country.

FISU President Oleg Matytsin presented the Award to the head of the delegation of Costa Rica Mrs. Rocío Carvajal and Mr Gerardo Corrales, the NUSF President.

 

“It is an honour for Costa Rica to receive this award,” Rocío Carvajal commented. “It commits us to continue to build scenarios for the incorporation of more women in all spheres of Costa Rican sport.”
