FISU Starts New Cycle of the Ongoing Collaboration with the World Squash Federation

FISU is delighted to announce the signature for another four years cycle of the ongoing Collaboration Convention with the World Squash Federation. FISU President, Oleg Matytsin had the chance to meet with Mr Jacques Fontaine (WSF President) during the SportAccord Convention that took place in Bangkok earlier this month. Thanks to a long-term collaboration with WSF, FISU saw the level of its events grow offering an ideal platform of development for University Squash athletes. In order to even improve this great collaboration, the World Squash Federation agreed with its Professional Squash Association to attribute PSA ranking points from this year onwards.   

In that regards, Andrew Shelley (WSF Chief Executive) also underlined the importance of this step forward in their collaboration with FISU:
 
The World University Squash Championships are already important and popular events in the squash calendar, and to give players the added incentive of ranking points offered as part of the WSF & PSA Satellite Tour can only enhance that. Some past World University Championship winners such as Thierry Lincou (France), along with Karim Darwish, Raneem El Welily and Ramy Ashour (Egypt) have scaled the heights and have amassed so many ranking points since that they have become great champions – while this starting point will surely be welcomed by current students.   
 
This will already been implemented for this year World University Squash Championship. The 2018 FISU WUC Squash will be organised by the university of Birmingham (GBR). The city of Birmingham will organise as well the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
