KRASNOYARSK — It’s about to get real. With less than six months to go for the much awaited 2019 Winter Universiade, three test events are set to be hosted in Krasnoyarsk in October. The events that will be under the spotlight will be student competitions in Ice Hockey, Short Track Speed Skating and Figure Skating.
During these competitions all the functional areas of the ANO ‘Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019’ will be put to the test, including cross-functional interaction and readiness of the sports venues for the Games that are scheduled for March 2-12, 2019.
The series of the test events will start with the International Student Team Tournament ‘Student Hockey Challenge’. The hockey matches will be held at the custom-built Crystal Ice Arena on October 1-8, 2018.
The strongest teams from the Russian Federation, the USA and some European countries, including winners of national student hockey leagues will participate in the tournament.
Figure Skating competitions will be the next test event which will take place at the same Platinum Arena Ice Arena on October 16-20.
About 150 athletes from 30 regions of the country will compete for medals in single skating and pair skating, under various categories: senior and juniors, male and female.
The third test event will be a Short Track Speed Skating student competition, scheduled for October 24-29, which will be held at the Arena Sever Multifunctional Complex.
The participation of 80 athletes is expected and the programme comprises men’s and women’s 500m runs, 1000m, 1500m as well well as the women’s 3000m relay and men’s 5000m relay.
