Chengdu 2021 unveils sports legends as event ambassadors during global launch campaign

BEIJING – Five colors: blue, yellow, black, green, and red, gradually converged and then formed a picture full of vigor and vitality during the global marketing launch campaign to the Chengdu 2021 Summer Universiade.

 

On June 26, the Chengdu Organizing Committee for the 31st Summer Universiade launched its marketing program for the summer sports extravaganza at Beijing National Stadium, known in international circles as the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium. At the launch ceremony, the Organizing Committee officially extended an invitation to all potential sponsorship partners around the globe.

 

During the event, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) was announced to be the first sponsor of the Chengdu 2021 Summer Universiade, which is scheduled to take place on August 8-19, 2021 in Chengdu, capital city of southwest China’s Sichuan province.

 

As a first-tier official partner, ICBC is also the official exclusive partner in the bank category. The Organizing Committee showing its high work efficiency and an amazing “Chengdu Speed” in inking the ICBC sponsorship less than two months into their marketing activities.

 

Famous Chinese pop singer Zhang Liangying, Olympics champion Feng Zhe, and world champions Jiang Wenwen and Jiang Tingting were also present at the event. The quintet were named as ambassadors to the world’s most important sporting event for university students during the day’s ceremonial launch, embracing it’s theme: “For Youth, For Future – Make Brands Younger and Make the World More Splendid.”

The top global event will definitely draw the attention of the world. The 31st Summer Universiade will mark the first time that western China has hosted such a world-class comprehensive sports event. Organisers are anticipating that this Universiade will draw more than ten thousand athletes and sports officials from about 170 countries to Chengdu. The host city is already going all out for the grand event while making greatest efforts to build itself to be a world-famous city of cultural creativity, tourism and sports events, and an international capital of gastronomy, and hub of emerging music.

 

Venue construction is in full swing, fully in line with high international standards of the event. The outdoor stadium for mountain sports in the Longquanshan Urban Forest Park, Tianfu Olympic Sports City, Phoenix Mountain Sports Center, and the 16,930-kilometer Tianfu Greenway network,  which will serve as venues for international Marathon, road cycling, and orienteering events. Construction is also well underway for a 500,000 square-metre Universiade Village that will be dotted with 49 stadiums for 18 sports during the 12-day event.
