LAUSANNE – Intending to provide opportunity to students both on and off the competitive field of play, FISU just launched the third edition of the International FISU Volunteer Programme.
Centred around the 2020 World University Championship events, students from around the world are invited to apply as a way to further their organisational abilities and jumpstart their sports event management careers.
Volunteers selected for the International FISU Volunteer Programme have the opportunity to take part and experience work at one of these upcoming events from inside the organising committee.
After the programme’s opening salvo in 2016, the initiative followed this up with great success during the 2018 World University Championship season, making it a no-brainer for FISU to launch a third edition in 2020.
The World University Championship season kicks off with cross-country running in the endurance running hotbed of Marrakech, Morocco, and continues for another 30 championships until concluding with Sambo in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
The programme offers selected attendees the possibility to gain experience at an international sports event and develop event management and communication skills. The opportunity also provides emerging sports management professionals a way to cultivate contacts within the global sports community.
The events themselves certainly benefit as well. One of the unique unintended outcomes has come from fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that university students have brought to these sports events.
